Randy Smallwood, the 2023 winner of the Mining CEO of the Year Award reflected on his achievement at last year’s event: “On behalf of the Wheaton Precious Metals team, I was deeply honoured to accept this prestigious recognition from an organization that celebrates and inspires excellence within our industry. Receiving this award was a testament to the remarkable achievements of Wheaton. It set the stage for our upcoming 20th anniversary while highlighting a year of incredible success and growth.” – Randy Smallwood, President & CEO of Wheaton Precious Metals. This iconic award will return in 2024, sponsored by Stratum International.
In honour of the mines of tomorrow, the Exploration Discovery of the Year Award sponsored by TM Partners will commemorate significant discoveries made in the past year. Similarly, the Mining Deal of the Year Award, sponsored by Pinsent Masons, celebrates impressive growth initiatives, both awards representing the continued success of the mining industry.
Reflective of the concerted effort of the mining industry and beyond to drive the energy transition, this year there will be two awards pertaining to ESG: the Best ESG Initiative by a Mining Company of the Year, sponsored by Onyen Corporation, celebrates remarkable inroads made by mining companies in overturning the reputation of the industry. The Best ESG Industry Initiative of the Year Award, sponsored by Barrick Gold Corporation, is a brand new award that reflects this year’s conference theme ‘breaking out of the echo chamber’, as the mining industry increasingly looks across the supply chain and further pushes for Net Zero.
The highly-acclaimed Rising Star of the Year Award, last year won by Katie Fedosenko, Director, ESG Engagement, Teck Resources Limited and Ana Gabriela Juarez, Founder and Executive Director, Women in Mining (WIM) Central America, will return to spotlight talented up-and-coming individuals destined to make a mark on the industry.
Of course, this year will continue the tradition of electing one truly special individual for the Lifetime Achievement Award, to join the list of mining legends who have won previously: Peter Munk, Mark Bristow and Mark Cutifani are just a few of the names on this distinguished list, underlining the exceptional calibre of those chosen by our independent panel judges.
Join us in the stunning Guildhall in London on the 5th of December for an evening of fun and festivities, and be inspired by the best the mining industry has to offer as we prepare to welcome a successful new year.
